Editing media files can take a lot of time, as well as system resources. An excellent solution for editing audio files is Ocenaudio. This lightweight application is capable of processing one or more large files while using as few resources as possible. It comes with many interesting features, which enable you to edit several files without any effort and without experiencing any performance issues. What's more, Ocenaudio is designed to please the end user in various ways, which is why the application is distributed free of charge, for all major operating systems.

The user interface has a clean and efficient design. You can import multiple audio files by simply dragging and dropping them in a list, on the left side of the window. Waveforms are displayed for the right and left channels of a selected audio file, in the larger area of the interface. Also, you can replace the waveform view with a spectral view or have them both at the same time.

A toolbar presents a set of playback and volume controls, as well as a recording option. When you hit the Record button, the application will start recording with your microphone immediately, without asking for any further input. You should also know that your recording will be inserted in real time, wherever the waveform's cursor is. In other words, if you leave the cursor in the middle of a loaded track and start recording, your voice will be inserted in the middle of the track, as you speak into the microphone.

A wide range of options can be found in the menu bar, for applying various effects, analyzing selected segments, generating silence, noise or tones and more. All you have to do is select a segment of your track and choose an effect. What's more, the application allows you to preview effects and adjust them on the fly. Unlike most audio editors, Ocenaudio allows you to make multiple selections simultaneously, on the same track. It may not seem as much, but this particular feature can be quite useful and it can save you precious time.

The application comes with other useful capabilities, for which you don't have to do anything to enjoy them. For example, Ocenaudio will remain active and responsive even if you overload it with a large number of files. You can even work on hour-long audio tracks, without noticing any significant impact on your machine's performance. If you start a lengthy operation, like applying a complex effect or exporting a large file, you will be able to work on other files in the meantime, because the operation will be carried out in the background.

Pros

The application is capable of carrying out lengthy operations without using too many resources. It allows you to work on audio tracks, while it processes other files. Ocenaudio is distributed as a freeware application, it is easy to use and you can have it up and running in no time.

Cons

There are no serious issues to address. Ocenaudio gives you the possibility of manipulating your audio files in various way, while asking for few resources in return.
